Funnel Cake oh Funnel Cake

When I hear that word I think of the fair or a carnavel and oh how I love funnel cake! Why do I love this funnel cake you ask, becauses I am obessed with anything fried. I onced tried fried bacon, thought it was going to be the ulimate fried food, but it turned out to be the worst. So back to the funnel cake, the fluffy fried cake with powder sugar sprinkled all over it and maybe even some honey. You can't go wrong with funnel cake it will make any child or even grown up happy.

Well after a long day of taking my sister to the emergency room I was in the line at burger king buying my fiance dinner, there was no way I was cooking last night, and as I am scanning the menu I see it "Funnel Cake Sticks". I had already eaten so I was not ordering for myself but as soon as I read those words "Funnel Cake" I could hear the noise of the fair, smell the fried food, and couldn't stand it any more so ordered some funnel cake sticks with icing of course.

I get the bags and drive away while trying to dig into the funnel cake sticks. Found them still really hot but can't resist, so I took a big bite and it basically tasted like hot oil blah! Decided to wait to get home to eat the rest maybe they needed to cool down or maybe the frosting would help. They were better when they cooled down but nothing like the funnel cake at the fair and the icing was way to sweet for me!

So I guess it looks like I only will get funnel cake once a year at the state fair! As long as its good thats fine with me.

Untill next time!

Shrimp Cocktail

So after bridesmaid dress shopping was over yesterday the question was "where should we go eat?" American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican... Mexican it is and San Felipes here we come. Of course it was happy hour so instead of ordering dinner we all ordered appetizers to split! The best choice on the appetizer list shrimp cocktail, like the shrimp cocktail you get straight from Rocky Point down in Mexico. Lots of shirmp, tomatoes, onions, jalalpenos, and tomato juice. All it need more was a little bit of vodka to get a good buzz! I think I could eat shrimp cocktail every day, it was sooo good with that little bite of heat just amazing. It reminds me of the shrimp cocktail my mother makes, which I think she got the recipe from my Great Aunt Suzy:

Ingredients
20-30 mid size cooked shrimp
1 seedless cucumber
2 avacados
1 jalapeno
2 tomatoes
1 onion
handful of cilantro
Bottle of Clemato Juice
1 lime
1 lemon

Recipe

Dice up all vegatables and put in a large bowl. Add in cooked shrimp and squeeze the lime and lemon over everything. Pour in the clemato juice and refrigorate untill ready to serve!

Easy as that to get such great taste. I do have to say going to San Felpes at happy hour is easier then making the dish, escpecially when it is half off. All in all it was great food, great drinks, and we even got great dresses for the wedding.

Untill next time!

The start of a food lovers findings!

I am your average girl with a love for food. I have no proffessional training in culinary cooking, but love to cook and experiment with new recipes. And of course I love to eat! I was looking for a way to expresses my love for food and the different experience I have encountered with food and couldn't have thought of a better way to do it then to blog! Sitting here this monday morning am writing this all I can think is whats for breakfast??? Yes I am one of those people who wake up starving and cereal and milk will not do for me. I think my favorite morning meal is in order!

Ingredients:
Half an Everything Bagel (or any bagle you prefer)
Whipped Cream Cheese
Garlic Salt
One Egg
Butter

Recipe:
Toast the half of bagel in the toaster and add the cream cheese when toasted to your likeness. While bagel is toasting add the butter to a pan over medium heat. Add the egg and fry ( I like my medium well runny in the center but cooked through on the white). Sprinkle the bagel with a dash of garlic salt and then top the bagel with the fried egg and enjoy!

Some of my recipes are out of the ordinary or not to culinary standards, but thats why I love them and want to share them. Well can't wait to go eat breakfast... Untill next time!
